Jeff Kolhede is a leading San Francisco Bay Area producer and audio engineer (Bill Frisell, The Heeters, SF Jazz Collective), with credits on multiple Grammy-nominated albums. His 2023 debut album, Dismantle, was featured on Bandcamp’s “New and Notable” and Spotify's “Fresh Finds Folk” playlist.

Also self-recorded, his latest album Novel Tea finds him stepping deeper into himself. On this release, he lets the music speak for itself. It is an unfiltered blend of influences from Cohen to McCartney, Caldwell to Getz, a freeform swirl of jazz, folk, indie, and soul shaped by impulse rather than design.

At its core is texture. The saxophone, his first instrument, is woven carefully into the songwriting for a layered, lived-in sound. Lyrically, Novel Tea confronts truths of both the inner and outer world. It is not about chasing trends. It is about chasing something real.
